Bible
This year for Bible and onwards, the focus will be on topics
- not so commonly taught whether at Sabbath school or preached in sermons
- relating to end of time and getting ourselves ready.
Please note: All years will begin their focus on the vision and mission statements, and then relate them to the Bible topics.
YEAR 7
- Vision and mission statements
- Knowledge on Books of the Bible (be able to list them) – know shortest text, longest book, etc.
- Ten commandments; use attributes of Christians and relate to the ten commandments
- Spelling the books of the Bible
- Jesus’ birth – the Messiah
There will also be a focus on the following Bible stories:
- Creation
- Elijah
- Baal
- Abraham & Isaac
- Naaman
YEAR 8
- Vision and mission statements
- Knowledge on Books of the Bible (no. of books, know them by heart)
- Ten commandments – know the order of commandments
There will also be a focus on the following Bible stories:
- Temptation of Jesus in the wilderness
- Esau & Jacob, Adam & Eve under the theme forgiveness
- Tower of Babel
- Aaron & Moses
- Caleb & Joshua
YEAR 9
- Vision and mission statements
- Knowledge on Books of the Bible by classification e.g. the prophets, Pentateuch etc.
- Ten Commandments – relationship between commandments and man, commandments and God. E.g. how is adultery related to heaven, stealing & man & God.
There will also be a focus on the following Bible stories:
- The rich man & Lazarus
- Joshua – the 1st seven chapters
- Joseph
- Crucifixion and Resurrection (explain the three days concept)
Parables:
- The unforgiving servant
- Lost coin
- Lost sheep
- Husbandry
Miracles:
- Water into wine
- Peter walk on water
- Casting of net (disciples fishing)
- Feeding of 5000
YEAR 10
- Vision and mission statements
- Knowledge on Books of the Bible (combination of knowledge from years 7 – 9 review)
First term:
- Women of the Bible – Esther, Ruth & Naomi, Abigayle, David & Dorcas
- Women prophetess – e.g. Huldah (cover at least four)
- Men of the Bible – Elisha vs Elijah, Solomon, Job, Lot, Incorporate major Kings of the Bible such as Josiah, Nebuchadnezzar, Belteshazzar, etc
There will also be a focus on the following Bible stories:
- David & Bathsheba
- Samson & Delilah
- Abraham & Sarah with King Absalom
- Ten plagues of Egypt
- Ananias & Sapphira
- Tamar & Amon
YEAR 11
- Pioneers of the Bible – E.G. White, Luther Warren, William Miller, Joseph Bates, Phenah, John Wesley etc.
- Incorporate the cornerstone quarterly lessons
YEAR 12
- The Sabbath
- Baptism
- Jesus’ second return
- The New Jerusalem
- Incorporate the young adult quarterly lessons
